This report, prepared by Deloitte Consulting on behalf of the CPA, studies the clinical evidence for the cost-effectiveness of physiotherapy treatments and physiotherapy’s impact on the burden of illness. The analysis models the impact of physiotherapy interventions on patient outcomes and expansion of physiotherapy access on three specific diseases: osteoporosis, back pain, and coronary heart disease.

In March 2025, the CPA delivered four key recommendations to the Department of Finance, building on our Fall 2024 advocacy efforts. These proposals highlight the opportunity for system-wide transformation that empowers and utilizes the full skillset of other regulated healthcare providers, with physiotherapy professionals uniquely positioned to support both patients and primary care providers.
Each recommendation seeks to optimize the role and expertise of physiotherapy professionals in Canada.
An essential voice in pandemic prevention and planning is that of physiotherapy professionals. This was highlighted in a submission to the Standing Committee on Health regarding Bill C-293 by the Global Health Division of the CPA.
Physiotherapy professionals play a crucial role in addressing a range of women’s health issues. In October 2023, the Women’s Health Division of the CPA submitted five recommendations to the Federal Standing Committee on Health.
